PARADIP: The Paradip Municipality has constructed a Biju Minar at the Biju Maidan here and a Biju Memorial Yatri Nivas near Paradip Sea Beach road in the memory of the late Biju Patnaik. The facilities will be inaugurated Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on March 5. The year-long Biju Patnaik’s birth centenary celebrations will conclude on March 4.
Informing this to mediapersons on Wednesday, Excise Minister, Damodar Rout said on the occasion, an eight-day long cultural event will be organised at Biju Maidan. The event will be jointly organised by Paradip Biju Memorial Trust (PBMT) and Paradip Municipality.
Jagatsinghpur MP, Kulamani Samal, Chairman of Paradip Municipality and secretary of PBMT, Basanta Biswal were present.
The Biju Minar is 50-ft high and has been constructed at the cost of Rs 30 lakh while the Yatri Nivas has 52 rooms and set up at the cost of Rs 3 crore.
