Chennai: Providing a level field to promote the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the country, an engineering expo is being organised by Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC) aimed at increasing production and exports.
The expo brings together 400 global exhibitors. Held for the last five years in Mumbai, this expo is being held in Chennai this year. It aims to raise enquiries worth $50 million to $1 billion, as against the $21 million worth enquiries in
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Mangat Ram Sharma, principal secretary, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Dept, said the government is working towards attracting trade visitors to nine districts in the state, including Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, by providing special incentives.
“During the time of the state budget, details of the grants being given to make more companies participate in these districts will be given,” he added.
The 6th edition of the International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) that will be held from March 16 to March 18, is being supported by the Commerce Ministry with Russia being the partner country.
